I received a call today. A foster family has a kid who is stealing, lying, and breaking things, and they refuse to deal with him anymore. The have had him for a little over a week, by the sound of it.
The one thing this family FAILED to mention is that this child has Asberger's syndrom, a form of Autism.
It seems like the fact that this child has a major developmental disability does not come in to consideration. The thing they were most upset about was that he lies.
Go figure, a child--and all children do!--with a developmental disablity does not sit on their mature, adult moral pedistool. I'm not sure I know of any child ripped out of an abusive home, especially with a form of autism, to be well adjusted.
We managed to find a new placement for this child pretty quick and he will be in a foster home that hopefully better understands the needs of a child with developmental disabilities. And yes, we explain the children's needs before we place them in foster homes that are LISCENSED to deal with special needs.
Such is life...

As for your own predicament that's a really sad story, especially at this time of year. Life is extremely cruel, I can only imagine the things you have to deal with.
Anyway, thank you for the comment, was a nice thing to do.
