Due to inactivity I presume, the group I started SG Keyboarders has been removed. Drag...
On a brighter note there are three kick ass concerts up and coming that I cannot wait for. Only 2 short weeks until September 18th upon which I will make the 2.5 hour drive to Austin to see the brilliant Wilco perform at Stubb's Bbq. Then, October 23rd, the legendary Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson and band bring the SMILE tour to Houston! Three short days later one Damon Gough, aka Badly Drawn Boy performs (with band? I know not).
Notable record release dates:
September 7: Matthew Sweet, "Living Things"
September 14: Tears For Fears, "Everybody Loves a Happy Ending". Roland Orzibal and Curt Smith back together after more than 10 years.
Septemer 28: Brian Wilson presents Smile! After 37 years Smile will finally be released as it was originally conceived.
October 19, Elliott Smith, "From a Basement on the Hill". Elliott's final posthumous album. Hurry up October!
November 2: Aimee Mann, "Live at St. Ann's Warehouse" Live CD and DVD! Woohoo!
And allegedly "forthcoming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" to quote the artist. A new record from Mr. Jason Falkner.
It's gonna be a good autumn.

Whatever happened to The Wonder Stuff: An Essay (!)
Well as you probably know the band officially split up in 1994 after performing for the final time at the Phoenix Festival.
Miles Hunt went on to briefly work for MTV UK as a VJ and then formed a new band called Vent414 who released one album in 1996 and then promptly disbanded after less-than-critical acclaim!
Miles then went to America to work on his solo career and between 1998 - 2000 he released several albums/EPs through the New Jersey based Gig Records (occassionally working with other Wonder Stuff band members).
Then unexpectedly the Wonder Stuff, six years after splitting up, reformed to do a series of reunion gigs across the UK at the tail-end of 2000. The gigs seemed to go down very well and they continued to do sporadic "reunion" shows up until last year.
Also during this time-period Miles formed a new band called The Miles Hunt Club (in 2002) and once again released one album which failed to make any sort of impression with the British music press.
And here's where it gets interesting... earlier this year Miles reportedly recorded an album with a new backing band purely as a solo album. Then all of a sudden a series of new Wonder Stuff live dates and an album called "Escape From Rubbish Island" are announced... the trouble is only Miles and one other Wonder Stuff member are involved. The rest of the band who have been touring on and off with Miles since 2000 weren't asked to participate with the album or even tour with the band - in fact the first they knew of it all was when the new tour dates were announced!
Basically the theory is that Miles recorded his album then decided that the British press was going to ignore anything he released unless it had the Wonder Stuff name on it... so he did just that without even mentioning it to the rest of the band. So now he'll be touring with a brand new band who aren't really the Wonder Stuff...
Personally I don't care - I've supported his solo career and his Wonder Stuff career so I'll pretty much buy anything he's involved with (plus they're playing my hometown next month and I'd be a fool not to go) - but it has divided the fanbase right down the middle!
