It's been quite a while since I've done one of these. Here are some updates
------------------
11/20/06 - Tonight was quite a fucking adventure. First we headed off to Vienna to find "Midgetville." Midgetville was supposedly built back when Ringling Bros Circus had an office in Tysons Corner years back. The area is surrounded by trees and contains somewhere between 15-25 little house built for small people/midgets/dwarfs. The houses only stand 6 feet tall in total. Every thing inside was designed for little people. We found the dirt road that leads back, but it was roped off with a no trespassing sign. Given that the entire area was posted with neighborhood watch signs about every ten feet, we did not want to park our car right outside the dirt road. We found a near by bike path that lead back sort of behind Midgetville. After walking a while we could finally see some little houses back up in there. These things were so fucking tiny. Little garages and every thing! The problem was that the whole back side is protected by the pretty deep and wide trench. I'm talking about 15 feet deep or so. We weren't able to get up very close to the houses, but we could see them.
After leaving Midgetville we headed up to Ilchester, MD to find Old. St. Mary's College (aka Hell House). Many years back three priest killed a number of student up there before killing themselves. One hung himself on the 5th floor, another drown himself in the river, and the last blew his brains out all over this outside alter (In my pictures I'm standing where the priest blew his brains out.). It took a while but we finally found a semi-path up. This place stood basically on the side of a mountain. It was quite a hike to the top. Most of the regular paths up have been block by brush and fallen trees. Once at the top we could see that the structure had been demolished. At this point we see another flashlight that isn't ours. It was some people who had also come up there, but to take pictures for their metal band. Since we weren't familiar with the area, they offered to show us around. They took us further up through the trees to the alter. We never would have found it had they not taken us up there. Even further up was where the pool was. It had since been filled in, but all of the surrounding walls were still standing. After heading back down to the bulldozed area, they took us to one side were another structure was still standing and sort of hanging off the side of the mountain. I walked to the edge and leaned over quite a ways. You could see some windows going down. It was quite a fucking drop over the edge. Part of what we were standing on was caved in and you could climb down in there. Inside there were some old clothes, mattresses, and blood. Yes, real blood stains were all over the place. At this point we heard some dogs barking and running down the mountain. We all took off running, not noticing that we had left Lee still inside. Lee came out and ran after us. The dogs were right on our ass and then nothing.... The barking just stopped and I mean they were right on top of us. I later read some reports about how a care taker had buried his dogs up there and people have since been chased by dogs and then the dogs vanish when they get right on top of you. We followed the guys in the metal band down a far different path than we had taken up. Down these little tiny old stone stairs. It was so steep and not fucking safe at all. Towards the bottom we could see flashing lights. We made it close to the road and then had to climb down the side of a train overpass to get back to our cars. One of the guys told the security officer that we were part of a camera crew and could we leave. The security guy said yes, but to hurry because the police and a tow truck were on the way. Needless to say we bolted out of there.
11/13/06 - Lee, Brad, Scooter, Glenn and Myself all headed up to Gettysburg after work. We ended up in the Devil's Den and Wheatfield area. Everybody pretty much spread out on their own for the first half of the night. Not many things are creepier than walking through a Gettysburg battlefield at 3am by yourself. At one point I felt like I was being followed. I turned around real quick and caught mist in the form of person standing behind me. It was not defined at all. Then it just faded out. I took a picture shortly there after and what appears in the photo is a large white mist with a face in it. You can see empty eye sockets, a nose, and an open mouth with teeth. It's by the far the strangest thing I have ever captured with a camera. We also came back with a few EVP's on Brad's recorder and I caught a couple of weird things on video.
10/31/06 - I saw Halloween on the big screen tonight. It's pretty damn cool that the movie theater behind the apartment was showing this. The theater wasn't very crowded, but it was still awesome. Sitting there it hit me that all of the connections in that movie to my home town were going unnoticed to all of the other patrons. Hearing things like "Warren County" and "Smiths Grove" doesn't mean shit to anyone up here.
10/25/06 - I saw the Suicide Girls Burlesque show tonight in Falls Church at the State Theater. Awesome!
