I was called a conspiracy theorist today because I suggested that governments lie. Hmmmm. whatever

In other news: I had another presentation this morning. This time it was on reasons for voter apathy. O how exciting, I hear you cry. It went badly, not quite so badly as the last though, so overall it was a success.

The first casualty of war is truth. I watch the news and find it hard to believe anything I'm told, even from the so called impartial BBC.

Well, it seems Turkey has begun moving troops into Kurdish areas in Iraq...so it seems Hitchens and Ignatieff were wrong, and we can FORGET freedom for the people of Iraq...

Thought:

If no significant Weapons of Mass Destruction are found in Iraq it will prove somewhat embarassing for Bush & Blair. Do you think that if no such weapons were found, it would be made public? Or do you think the US government would fabricate evidence of WMDs?

I saw an article in the Washington Post about how some news items aren't covered with much enthusiasm here but are widely reported overseas, such as the beating to death of detainees by the US army. It pointed out an item where a director from an international nuclear power agency (I forget the name of the agency, sorry) found that a paper from the US govt, stating that Iraq had bought uranium from Niger, was "not authentic". I.e., it was phony.
I've been arguing that this war might help the Kurds in my journal...but I dunno if, ultimately, it will have been enough of a difference for them for the war to have been worth it-- the cost of life, and the horrible reputation the US has now internationally. If the US had really wanted to help the Kurds, they coulda simply alienated Turkey and given the Kurds massive aid and occupying weaponry for anti-Hussein defense....whatever.

I watched a documentary about 1960s designs yesterday. It made me think that the 60s really was the decade of style.

In Britain at least, the cars were way better - compare a Mini Cooper to a Nissan Micra, or an E Type Jag or DB4 to a BMW. Practicality may not have been so high, but styling was miles better.

My mum is a total 60's fan. She grew up in that day and age and certainly enjoyed herself. I take after me Dad though and he was a biker. If I had lived in the 60's I'd be riding a Triumph, wearing leather and listening to Rock and Roll.
The modern cars are horrific travesties and should all be crushed and turned into dog food tins. I want a MK1 Zephyr.

I dig the flag! It's so retarded, there are people here mad at France....there's people talking about calling French fries "freedom fries" in Capitol HIll restaurants. I'd sooner rip my nuts off with a plastic fork than refer to anything as "freedom" anything or "patriot" anything.

I arrived at university today a happy man. Happy, that was, until I discovered that I had to give a presentation on asylum & immigration at 11:00am. I discovered this at approximately 10:55am from another unfortunate member of my group. What's more, everybody else had prepared for it, they were stood around clutching sheefs of notes, reciting Home office reports off by heart. Thank god...

I have a headache. Being single is getting me down.

I finished work yesterday evening and met up with a couple of mates intending to go to a restaurant. We arrive, and there's a que at least 30 long. They wanted to wait, I have an aversion to crowded places so I told them I was going home. A bit of a hissy-fit I admit,...

I usually get through alright, this time all the bills turned up at once, a bit annoying. Luckily I wasn't up to much over the weekend.

Yeah, I've left restaurants for being too crowded before.

dude that is nothing... my cds have been in alphabetical order for about 10 years... I vacuum daily.. my clothes are in order of shirts, pants, skirts, and then they are subordered in colours and size... it usually goes red, black and then misc... because I rarely own anything that isnt red or black.. I even alphabetised my boyfriends cds and I organised his clothes like mine excepts his colours are blue and white..... when you start disinfecting things like I used to.. you need help... and I had to go and get help for it ... as I was a compulsive hand washer as well....
nch:
I've started running. Not often, just in the lunchtimes of days that are annoying me. Having never run before, not even for buses, the most I can manage is to the park, short loop, back to the gate, stop on the bench for twice as long as the run. Half a mile tops.

It's fun though! Headaches can't compete with legaches.
