So...my best friend from high school (Shawna) just left. We did our holiday baking PART II. Part I was back when we were about 15, in my parents' kitchen. During part I, I found a recipe for "Orange Dreamsicle" cookies or something like that. The recipe called for however many tablespoons of tang. What we didn't realize was that it meant the tang mixed with sugar, not tang concentrate. We used tang concentrate. The result were these mouth-puckering tart, neon orange rock hard cookie pellets. We gave them to friends the next day and everyone threw them at each other. It was a big fail.
Our second fail was our fudge using regular sugar, rather than confectioner's sugar. Result? Gritty fudge, if you can imagine. I don't recall it setting up properly, either. That didn't even make it to school to be part of the tang cookie fight.
Today, we're a little older and a little wiser and Shawna even owns one of those Kitchen Aid mixers and the results were much better. Not that the tang cookies and the gritty fudge were particularly hard to beat, but still...you know. We made some rockin' baked goods and drank some of Shawna's home brew...which may or may not still be here....lemme check...
SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In other news, I donated some blood today. I actually look forward to blood drive days at work. You get to sit there and do nothing for 20 minutes and have an excuse for it. You also get to learn all of your vital stats without going to a doctor. My blood pressure is 110/72 and my hematocrit is 42%. I'm not sure what that means, but it's iron related and my 42% was "very good for a female". I'm good at iron! Then, they let you pick your bandage color and you get free cookies and cheez-its.

1. What bandage color did you choose?
2. I've always thought you were very good for a female.
3. "Rock hard tang cookie pellets" sounds like something you find in a all women's nursing home.
