Hello Daninites one and all and welcome to the latest (and a bit late too might I add) edition of Dan-O-Blog!
Today's blog is a special edition, a little less of story time and a little more recipe listing. Sometime in June I was lamenting about a lack of Geek themed drinks and shots and so since that point I've been making it my mission to create a fine selection and assortment of these drinks for enjoyment at geek gatherings such as Comic Conventions. With the rise in popularity of one particular drink after the San Diego Comic Con I feel it's time I've shared this list with the wonderfully world wide web.
Let's start with the drink that started it all
The Last Unicorn (aka. the Unicorn)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084237/
Shot glass
1 part Goldschlager
1 part Bailey's
1 part Creme De Cacao
Chase with Red Bull
this really is the ultimate role players drink. Each shot is a Unicorn and your can of Red Bull is ... well the Red Bull. Now pretend your stomach is the ocean and with each shot of Unicorn you take take a gulp of Red Bull, and pretend the Red Bull is slowly driving all the worlds unicorns into the ocean at the behest of King Haggard. If you want to truly re-enact the movie then you'll keep doing this until finally the Unicorns revolt and depart the ocean the way they came. Now you have recreated the climactic finale of the movie and the Last shot you hold in your hand is now dubbed "the Last Unicorn"
(For full effect have Christopher Lee hold back your hair and scream "I KNEW YOU WERE THE LAST!!!")
Next up the fan favorite and star of the San Diego Comic Con! This was second drink I created along with the help of Mr. Neil John Lalonde, it is....
The HE-MAN!!!
http://youtu.be/7yeA7a0uS3A
This is a drop-shot and comes in two parts
The Prince Adam
Tall Glass fill half way
1 part grenadine
1 part Lemonade
The Power of Greyskull
shot glass
1 part Grey Goose
1 Part Crystal Skull Vodka
There is a required ritual which completes and is required to get the full effects this drink.
Hold the Power of Greyskull above the Prince Adam and yell "By the power of greyskull!" Drop the shot in. It is now a He-man, chug it back and slam it down then Yell "I HAVE THE POWER!!!"
Not only is this drink hilarious but also extremely tasty hence it's rise to popularity.
He-man wouldn't be complete without his trusty side-kick
The Cringer/Battle-Cat
Layered shot
1 part Orange juice
1 part Creme De Menthe
Layer the orange juice on top of the Creme De Menthe now you have the colors of Battle cat!
Man-at-Arms
Full drink
fill half glass with Guinness
fill quarter with orange juice
fill quarter with Melon Liqueur
Orange and Green the colors of Man-at-Arms and a big dose of Guinness cause he's a man's man!
The Skeletor
Shot glass
1 part Blue sour puss
1 Sour Patch Kid
1 part Anti-Freeze
Umm, yeah don't drink this one, under any circumstance. Green and Blue the colors of Skeletor and the melting face of the sour patch kid to mirror the melting face of Kalidor.
Again don't drink this. It's a joke and Danny doesn't feel like getting sued
The Beastman
Shot glass
1 part Bacardi
1 part Jagermeister
1 part Wild Turkey
Each drink has a Beast on the label. Beastman would be proud
The Speed Racer!!!
Full glass
1 part milk
cause Speed Racer would never drive drunk!!!
The Great Gonzo!
Full glass
1 part Tequila
1 part Sake
1 part Absinthe
1 part Everclear
1 lighter
The point of a Great Gonzo is that when you finish a Great Gonzo, you're Gonzo. You can't be not drunk by the time you finish it. Mix all parts together and then light it on fire. After all it wouldn't be completely worthy of the Gonzo name unless there was at least a little danger involved
And lastly but not leastly
The Care Bear Countdown!
4 shot glasses
1 shot grenadine
1 shot banana liqueur
1 shot Creme De Menthe
1 shot Blue Curacao
Line up all 4 shots in the order of the rainbow. Red, Yellow, Green and Blue, the yell "Care Bear Countdown!" and drink one shot for each number as you countdown from 4 to 1
So there you have my list of drink recipes for your geek themed party night. Looking back it actually seems more like an 80's cartoon themed drink night. Seems that I'll have to come up with some more well rounded geek themed drinks
Until next time! See you back here
