I got my LG G Pad 7 back today. It had a shattered screen, so I bought a replacement screen, thinking I'd do the repair myself. Unfortunately, I was elbow deep in its guts before I realized that I would need a heat gun to separate the screen and digitizer from the rest of the tablet. I really didn't want to pay $60 for a tool I was only going to use once, so I ended up paying $70 for someone else to fix it for me.
Now my G Pad can replace my HP TouchPad as my primary tablet. The TouchPad is starting to show its age, after all. There's only so much that overclocking, different CPU governors, and different I/O schedulers can do to keep a tablet that's at least five years old running like new. That tablet will become my backup tablet, and my first generation Kindle Fire (which thinks it's a Nexus) will be relegated to the backup of the backup, until I decide whether or not to try to sell it for a quick $25.
Today I learned that Snapchat will work on both my G Pad and my Galaxy Note 5. I was unsure about it because I had read on xda that Snapchat checks for root access and force closed if the check comes back positive. I'm sloppy_carlton on Snapchat, so if anyone wants to add me, feel free. I can't promise I'll post often.
