For those of you who have known me for a while know I have been having some issues. 3 years ago this month I suffered a back injury while playing back yard football. After 3 hours of playing we stopped playing and I headed back to my room on campus. I took off my shoes and was preparing for a shower. When I went to stand up I could barely stand. That was the beginning. I didn't think much of it because I have been sore after playing football many times before. Well I endured the discomfort for 2 weeks and said enough is enough I'm seeking help.
Next I went to our health center on campus and they referred me out to a Chiropractor. The chiropractor took x-rays of my back and it was quite visible my vertebrae in my lower back were out of alignment. That, to me, explained the discomfort I felt when trying to stand or sit. I saw the chiro 2 times a week until my flexibility and back were back to normal, or so it seemed. Yea I was still running 3 times a week 3-4 miles each time with minimal pain. It was just trying to tie my shoes and stand up was the obstacle. The chiro did wonders on my back. My pain ceased to exist and I could nearly touch the ground, something I couldn't do through out life before. It was amazing to feel the stretch up in my back. It felt so good! For the next 2 years I continued to see the chiro when I was home from college and when I went back. These past 5 months have been my downfall.
Since I started working at Home Depot the hard floors have really aggravated my back once again. Upon this feeling again I sought chiropractic care. I explained to him what was wrong and he felt around on my lower back and said my vertebrae were not staying in place causing my muscles to tighten and induce pain. My flexibility was gone again and still is. After seeing him for 3 months he couldn't figure out why my back kept moving like it did. He recommended I should talk to my family Dr. and get an MRI done. So I called my Dr had an appointment and got an MRI scheduled.
This past Monday I called my Dr. to see about my results, if the were in yet. They were. I was told I have herniated disc in my back and degenerative disc disease. That really put a damper on my mood Monday. That explains the discomfort I have been feeling since December. It hurts to bend over, pick heavy things up and to stand up well give me about 30 seconds to get fully erect. Pervert! Not that way! So now it's light duty for me at Home depot of can't lift anymore than 20LBS and can't bend. Well bending is fact of life so that is going to be kind of hard. It's time for a beer. BRB.ok got some beer. Where was I? Ah yes. Light duty as I'll have to tell people I can't load them due to my back. Sorry but I don't want to screw it up any more than it is. It sucks waking up every day not knowing will I be able to put socks on with out straining myself. How about shoes? Yea this week has not been good.
