OK , time for a new post, if purely because the last one was getting extremely long in the tooth. What to say though, that is the question. Nothing substantial really, so I'll list a few things and see if I start to write anything when I get there.
1. Largely working in Bristol again these days. Nice not having to get up at the crack of dawn and catch a train somewhere. Bit dull being back in my home office, but Christmas lunches have already started. My main one is next week at a nice place called the Riverstation.
2. Did some more photos for a show at my parents old school. Had no idea what it would be, just got asked to turn up. So I get there, a bit late because it's a bugger to get to from my office, and sit in my seat on the front row. The show starts. I'm a bit confused by it all, before realising it's His Dark Materials (and staging it can be a bit odd). Goes on for hours and they still have to do a rush job on the last book to keep it that long. Anyway, they did it very well. And then I went the next night expecting to see something different (they usually do year 11 one night and year 12 the next) and it's the bloody same show again!!! Anyway, I took 1,500 or so photos and got about 500 good ones and 400 so-so ones - which isn't bad with really high contrast lighting and no flash.
3. Went back to Poland with my gf the other week. Freezing when we got there, it was. About minus 5. Lovely snow though. Didn't take my camera with me though due to the weight and the temperature and wanting to take a break from it for once. When I say I didn't take it, of course I mean I didn't take me big digital. My old pentax ME-super got brought out of moth balls for the trip with a 28mm and some old B&W film I had. I love that camera and it is very light. I'll get them processed soon. We stayed at the in-laws again and ate far, far, far, far too much. Very nice (and really cheap trip at 20 return inc taxes).
4. Boiler broke the other morning, so we had no heating or hot water for three days. Rather cold it got too. So I had to shower at work and curl up in bed to keep warm. Pity a lot of the windows don't shut either! Brrrr ! (or Zimno! which is polish for brrrrrr).
5. Went shopping down my road (Gloucester Road for those in the Briz) with the missus for xmas presents yesterday. Took 4 hours! Bloody hell, she can shop. I bought a few things for cousins and aunts in one very nice shop called Bishpston Trading Company that sells organic cotton stuff from rural india. Will go back without the gf later. Me, I'm hoping for a Lomo Fisheye or a bag for my bike.
6. Just listening to one of my best mate's radio show. It's on AM today because the rugby is on FM - which is a pain because he's just got his own full time show (he's been the sidekick and stand in for years) and it's his very first show. In saying that, it is a request show that targets an older audience (of Bristolians) so they've been playing some extremely cheesey middle-of-the-road music. And the wanker's just played Call Me Al and said that I requested it. Wanker (again and etc.)
Anyways, hope you all have a lovely christmas/winter period and get absolutely slaughtered at New Year.
