GAAAHHHH!!!!!
On the one morning of the week I could've slept late I was called into the clinic at 0415. Crap.
A 37 year-old Columbian soldier awakened by "electric-like" pain in all four limbs, followed by 10-15 seconds of a pounding heart sensation, now with a persistent throbbing retro-orbital headache. He's had the same thing happen once before, 2 weeks ago. My colleague, the Columbian doc, has begun a workup but now he's on leave and the patient's chart can't be located.
No previous medical history other than a gunshot wound to the chest 7 years ago. No meds, nutritional supplements, caffeine or alcohol abuse.
BP 135/75, HR 62, RR 10. Alert, NAD
Exam and EKG unremarkable.
PTSD? Pheochromocytoma? Hyperthyroidism? Seizure disorder?
