A good friend and myself, have had an on going discussion of sorts. Concerning Vampires and Goths. And a lot of times, people ask me if I myself, am a Vampire or a Goth. Well, here is my -view- on the subject.
I don't dress the part. I don't dye my hair. I don't wear makeup. I don't even have any piercings. But, just because someone else -does- does'nt make them the real thing. My experiences and travels of shown me what the majority of so-called-Goths/Vampires, for what they truly are.
You have these silly little children for example, from Anywhere, U.S.A. (Or other countries, just using mine as an example), who claim to be ''dark and evil''. Now these are mainly kids who grew up in the country, or in the suburbs. Have had access to good schools. Have a good, financially stable home. And over all, a suitable living enviornment.
But because mommy and daddy didn't buy them a car for their sixteenth birthday, now all of the sudden satan is their new best friend. It's quite ridiculous. I'll meet people who -claim- to be into Vampires. And you know what they tell me? ''Dude, Vampires are awesome dude! Vampires are totally cool man, they rock!''
Now this upsets me. A Vampire is a creature, cursed, damned. To walk this forsaken earth forever. A once mortal who's fallen from grace. Never quite able to embrace death themselves, but because of their nature, deal out death constantly. To watch your family grow old and die, while you stay young. To never be able to have children, and in some cases, not walk in daylight, enjoy the simpler pleasures in life that we take for granted.
There is nothing -cool- or -awesome- about these creatures or their condemned fate. Some punk kid watches a few horror movies, or reads a few Anne Rice novels and they think they know it all. Well, it's not that simple.
I'm not one of those ignorant children. I witnessed my first homocide when I was three years of age. And since then, had seen a good many of my friends killed right in front of me. It's not like in the books. It's not like on T.V. It's almost too real. I've grown up with death. It's part of my life. I've seen a darker side of humanity. I've seen, the belly of the beast. It's astronomical horror. The way it cosumes life. Consumes souls. And corrupts the living.
Like I said, I don't have to dress or look the part. For me it's real. It's a state of mind. Where most supposed Goth/Vampire wanna-be's, it's merely a fashion statement. Along with a certain level of fascination. For what they truly don't know or understand. Otherwise, the foolish swine wouldn't think or say things like, ''Death, Pain, Satan, Blood, Vampires and everything else dark and evil is -cool- or -awesome-''
The Grim Reaper comes knocking on your door, I garuntee most sissies who wear the clothes, dye their hair, put on make up, file down their teeth, WONT be smiling. And the last thing they will say is ''Cool or Awesome!''
I've seen more death, bloodshed and violence then most supposed Goths/Vampires have seen in the movies. Wich is the ONLY place they see it. And like I said before, it's fake. It's not like real life. To be standing around like I was one day, with one of your best friends and someone gets out of a parked car down the block. Walks slowly up to you while you're talking. Pulls out a .50 Caliber from beneath his trench coat and fires a shot into your friends face while your standing not two feet from him. To see his head explode and have his blood and brains and bone matter spray all over your body.
I'll never forget that day especially. My dad, even though we were dirt poor, bought me the brand new Scotty Pippen Air Flights! They had just came out like that day! I was pretty happy. Then, I had to get my best friends blood and brains smeared all over them. Because we were poor, I couldn't afford a new pair of sneakers. So I had to walk around for the next several months, with my friends blood and brains on my shoes. Everytime you put them on, everytime you take them off. Everytime you look down, a constant reminder.
Wich brings me to the conclusion that no Vampire nor Werewolf. No Witch nor Demon. No God nor Devil. Is worse then human beings. We brutally slaughter each other for no reason at all. For money. For religion. For skin color. For pride. We are destined to destroy ourselves. Corrupt beings we are. That is why, the devil has made our home, his personal playground.
Needless to say, whether you're talking about some Vampire you seen in the movies, or the guy on T.V. who just got busted for raping, killing and eating a bunch of kids, who are the real monsters? And do you still think death is -cool- or -awesome-? Are you really as ''dark and evil'' as you say and think you are?
