Happy Halloween!

Rain running down a window,
blurring and distorting
the gray world outside.
This particular room is
empty and foreboding,
not a thing stirring.
Slowly move down the hallway,
silent and discretely.
Breathe growing heavy...
The light under the door stares,
flickering and mocking.
The knob slowly turns...
A silhouette is revealed,
waiting and observing,
then steps out of sight.
Static, loud and so unruly,
somehow gone unnoticed.
Hard to hear...not see...
Blood running down the cracked screen,
pointing and directing
to a ravaged mess.
Furniture over-turned and
glass shards lay silently.
Then there's the body...
Clothing torn to bloody ribbons,
face wet with red-streaked tears,
skin tattooed by teeth...
Frozen with fear, legs trembling.
Heart racing, mind tumbling.
Unable to move...
Darkness suddenly surrounds.
No movement, not a sound.
Collapse to the floor.
The mind gradually calms,
pausing and wondering,
'Where is the
