So I went to the Pomona Tattoo Convention this weekend to work for my best friend and boss. I had been super anti these conventions. There are always huge billboards all over Los Angeles and it always seems like a huge joke to me.

My feelings have been confirmed after this weekend. I entered a piece in the Black & Grey - Small contest. I love the tattoo and probably got stopped about 30 times over the 2 days I was there by people asking me who did it and what not.

So Saturday was contest day. I went up there, showed the judges my piece and then went in the crowd where a bunch of people took pictures of my leg and I even passed out business cards when people asked me who did it.

Well the judges panel consisted of the following:
1. Tattoo artist's wife
2. Lady who sold purses at one of the vendor booths
3. Some old tattoo artist who could barely see (Not Rick Walters or Tennessee Dave)

How can 2 of the 3 judges not even tattoo or really know what a good or bad tattoo is? Shit I am heavily tattooed and what looks good to me may or may not look good to a tattoo artist.

Needless to say I didn't win. I am not a sore lose by any means but at least if you are going to have a tattoo contest, get tattoo artists judging the damn contest. GAY!!

In the end, I was right about the Pomona show. I will not go back and I am making my boss go to good coventions..no more of this gay ass shit.
