nothing much new to report but I figured I should update this. I finally met someone in this cultural void of a town who actually knows something about music other than motley crue. he just got hired where I work recently. he seems like a good guy. he's into black metal and is a drummer, I think he's in the church of satan as well. his musical knowledge and tastes seem to be a lot more diverse than just that though, at least based on the conversations I've had with him so far. which is good because as you can see by my "favorite bands" I like a variety of stuff myself. he, like myself, is also a relocated Torontonian. so we both share the sadness of the cultural void here. anyway, it'll just be nice to have a friend around here who I can actually talk to about something interesting for a change. hooray.

we need to get out of this town though... it's almost sad that meeting someone who actually knows about some of the music I'm into is an exciting thing, if you know what I mean...
