ok so, remember that entry from a few weeks back about the co-workers who left me to die during that virtual (practice) fire at work? when i didn't hear the alarm because of headphones?
well... after two weeks vacation, i returned to a mass e-mail about the fire drill...
first it mentioned how they managed to evacuate the building and account for everyone in 7 minutes with the exception of one person who hadn't heard the alarm.
it went on to talk about how too many people tried to use the same exits and completely ignored other exits, causing bottlenecks and slowing the whole thing down.
then came the "improvements and suggestions"... and... long story short: we will be installing a flashing light in the internet room that will go off when the alarms do... so.. i win??? sort of...
i still kinda felt like emailing back saying "y'know, maybe you should appoint a few people who would go around the building sweeping offices, bathrooms and other misc. rooms that are tucked in corners of the building to make SURE no one is stuck? or better yet, have these flashing lights visible from EVERYWHERE IN THE BUILDING??? i mean, what if we have a hearing-impaired person working there?"
but i figured best to leave well enough alone and claim this small victory for now
