meh. I took the girls to see the wife at the hospital today. her shrink thought it would be good for the girls to see where she is, etc etc. but, she was in a low/depressive cycle while we were there, so it turned into an hour of moping + attempting to keep the kids from decapitating the plants in the visiting lounge planters. they've started her on an anti-psychotic to supplement the anti-convulsant. I'm not really sure this visit is doing her that much good though - she doesn't do well with peopl at the best of times, and the other crazy (crazier) people in the ward are starting to wear on her. and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't feeling a little resentful myself that this shit is how I get to spend my vacation time from work this summer.
my day didn't start off so well either. I woke up with food poisoning last night and got maybe 4 hours sleep before and after that was all said and done. then I woke up this morning to discover that the younger rugrat had gotten up to the bathroom sink, ran the hot water, dumped the older rugger's entire package of toilet-friendly wipes into the sink and clogged it. took me about 15 minutes to get the last one out of the drain - $4.00 lost on the wipes I can handle, but I'll be fucked if I'm spending $120 on a plumber to come deal with that.
at least the day ENDED well - I finally took my first swim of the summer in our pool. the weather has been so shitty here that it didn't even get opened until last weekend, and I spent the better part of last week vacuuming it and stabilizing the chemical levels. and to think, the pool company calls themselves "Fun Time Pools"... pffft. dealing with it last week would've been a huge pain in the balls if rugger #1 hadn't been so interested in helping me out with it - getting her involved at least made it SEEM fun.
the cold water is a shock at first - we have no heat pump, so it's probably around 65 degrees F right now - but it's so damn much more refreshing once you get used to it.

We are already having issues with natural habitat being over run by farms.
