I couldn't fall asleep last night, so I hung out on the sg boards. A posting about BUST magazine's porn stance led me to google "anti porn" and the next thing I knew I was browsing the no-porn.com message boards.
To be fair, a lot of postings seemed to be by people who have used or do use porn compulsively; people who can honestly use the word addiction. But there were also people posting things like, "I hate that my partner looks at porn. Am I being unreasonable?"
Why even ask questions like that on a website called "no porn"? Of course, these posters received only encouragement. I couldn't resist but present a gently dissenting opinion to two of them. I think I was very nice about it, although there was the (very dark) temptation to say things like, "A lot of women worry that their husband uses porn because he doesn't find her attractive any more. Could this, in fact, be the case in your situation?"
Other fun things I noticed on no-porn.com:
* The "How do I know if I'm addicted to pornography?" test. I only answered yes to one question - doesn't everybody change channels on the television set just to find something that will stimulate them sexually?
* Their main sponsor, the publishers of the creepy-looking software package "Covenant Eyes"
* Their other sponsor, 1-800-THE-RAPIST (Okay, that's a cheap shot. But a pay-for-display directory has to be one of the worst ways to find a therapist -- or a dentist, for that matter.)

i think the removal of awareness would not only make you different.. but less than human. perhaps just a robot. think of all the midtown workers you have been stepped on, bumped into, shoved by, huffed at.. all because of their lack of awareness!
