Yep, it's been way too long since I made an entry. And now I'm going to rant.

I dislike the electoral college process. I think that it should be the popular vote all the way. Sure the electoral college 'usually' swings this way, but if it's not going to be a popular vote, my vote counts as even less than a vote. And to upset me even further, my vote TRULY didn't count.

By 3:00 pm Wednesday (the day AFTER election day), they had counted 11% of the votes in my county (Boulder). They say you can't argue with statistics, so they made a statistical call to project that my county wouldn't get enough Kerry votes, and thus all of Colorado's electoral votes went to Bush. By 10:42 am on Thursday (THURSDAY mind you), my county had counted 33% of it's votes. They've already announced all the senate, court of appeals, presidency, etc etc etc, and my county is only 1/3 of the way counting? Well, the election is long over by now, and Kerry has conceded, and as of noon today (FRIDAY), they've counted 70% of my counties votes. WHAT the hell?! So you must be thinking by now that I'm a democrat. Well, I'm not. I'm an Anti-Bush republican. I do not like our president, I do not trust our president. But apparently I'm in the minority who thinks that he's going about things the wrong way. My thoughts on Kerry? He made me nervous as all hell. Leading into the election, I felt like life had become a commercial for Aliens vs. Predator - No matter who wins, we LOSE.

So one of the other topics on my ballot (which didn't get counted) was an ammendment to split up the electoral votes based on the percentages of the popular votes. Like I said, I'd rather just use the popular vote, but hey, that's a step in the right direction. Apparently that didn't make sense to people either as it was voted down by 70%.

So was voting in my case worth it? You tell me. Okay, I'll stop ranting now.
