While sitting in my bed in the ER, I heard serveral radio reports of a cyclist down in morning traffic. It was me, and I'm alive. Just thought I'd post something somewhere where columbus people could read it.
I've lived in a few cities, and without a doubt, columbus has to be the most cycling friendly with a few exceptions. All that happened was my throwing my right leg over my top tube and my left leg buckled and dislocated at the knee. Weird to happen after countless months of commuting every day.
Anyway, 4 EMT trucks arrived pretty quickly after a load of people stopped to make sure I wasn't dead, which was really heartwarming (and I needed the warmth, it was 6 degrees and I wasn't moving anywhere). One of the guys must have been a cyclist, because I think he was more worried about my bike than about me, which really did rock.
My nurse at the hospital rocked too, she's in the Westerville Cycling club and does tours. She had a similar injury last year and she's back at it too.
So if anyone heard it, and was wondering what the deal was, no, I didn't get hit by a car, it was a silly injury to get, but it stull hurts. After all the help I've given motorists throughout the winter with pushes, phone calls, and directions, I'm glad that the favor was returned so kindly.
Oh yeah, Kona Jake is fine, and sitting in the living room.
