It's 23 degrees, snowing, and the roads are totally slick. Perfect weather for a ride. I ride every day, but this morning's ride warrants mentioning. After I made it up the big hill to get to Lane Ave., there was a light snowfall, the sky was perfectly clear, it was still dark, and it was totally silent. There was a period of about 5 seconds that I think will be permanently ingrained in my memory. By most peoples standards it was a totally crappy day, but for a just a moment or two, it was absolutely beautiful.
Popped into the local coffee shop for an OJ, sat for a minute or two, and got back on the road. While unchaining my bike some guy made a sarcastic comment I couldn't quite hear through my balaclava about it being a nice day for a ride to which I replied that my ride into work was a lot more fun than his will ever be. I mean, for a half hour every morning and evening, the entire world is about nothing but me and my bike... beat that in your coffin...err car.
So, I think the lady that hit me the other day may have slightly caused a twist in the frame of said ride. I'm going to see what I can do, because my baby and I have been through a lot in the last 14 years I've had it.
On that note however, I have been keeping an eye out for a new bike as there's some different kinds of riding I'd like to try (read: more aggressive), and I think I found the perfect one. My problem is that even if I were to be underweight, my frame is so large that "underweight" is still 210 pounds. Enter the bike I cannot link because their site is down: The Hoss.
It's a bike out of their Clydesdale series of bikes, and while it won't make my Christmas list, it is on my Birthday one.
