2015 has been a year full of adventure and life lessons. This summer I loved and lost friends and partners, but the parting of ways was the best for both involved. Summer was a blast, filled with live music and traveling all along the west coast. I managed to sneak into a few festivals and met amazing people along the way.
Most of all, I have to say I am grateful to be alive. This year I was in over four car accidents, two in one week. Oddly enough, I was not at fault for any of these accidents. At this point I have a phobia of cars, but of course I have to face this fear on a daily basis.
This Christmas Eve I was rear ended on highway 17. On my way to my parents' house my cell phone chimed, it was my mom letting me know to watch out for an accident over the summit on the highway. I mentioned the accident to my sister, she continued to drive with caution, especially past the summit. I failed to notice the flares, since they were out. Suddenly there was a vehicle stopped in front of us, lights flashing, this appeared to be the accident my mom was talking about. My sister slammed on the breaks, and came to a dead stop. I was so thankful she had a good reaction time and not hit anything! Next thing I knew, my volvo flew through the air, bounced off the median and landed on its side. Of course the vehicle was totaled, luckily all passengers (including Nibbler) were okay besides whiplash.
The vehicle CLIPPED us at such a high speed, we flipped, Insane. Imagine if the other vehicle had fully rear ended us?! So lucky.
In the fall I hit a deer with my Acura. I was driving on a dirt road at night, and tried to avoid hitting the deer. Unfortunately I still hit the animal and ended up off an embankment. I flew through brush and luckily missed large trees. This vehicle also flipped and was totaled.
A few days after totaling my Acura, a friend was driving the same dirt road and I was a passenger. He also managed to flip off the side of an embankment. The fumes were leaking into the vehicle and the windows were up. The windows were stuck, we had to bust out the window in order to crawl out.
In the spring I totaled my 4Runner, also flipped. So, I think I'm an expert crash dummy now...
I came out of each accident with minimal injury. I am extremely lucky to have my dog with me still as well. I usually restrain her with a harness and short leash attached to a buckled seatbelt (essentially a doggy seat belt). After an accident, little Nibbler goes into flight or fight mode. She managed to Houdini her way out of her harness multiple times and escape into the wilderness through busted windows. I am glad she made her way back to me.
This past year I also was able to shoot with @sunshine We had some difficulty meeting up due to the fact that I had totaled my 4Runner, but eventually we managed to make the shoot work out. We met up late summer in Humboldt and chose a lovely spot near the river. This location is dear to me, one of my favorite locations to visit in the spring. Unfortunately during the summer months there is a heavy build up of toxic blue green Algae from fertilizer run off. Greedy people growing too much and sucking the river dry. The river is too stagnant to cleanse itself of these fertilizers. The chemicals sit in the water and eventually Blue Green Algea takes over what is left of the drying river. I chose this specific spot to share this reality with viewers of my set. The CA drought is a real issue, and in the daily hustle and bustle of consumer life... We forget the sad realities of our effects on the planet.
How was your New Year? Any resolutions? I wish all of you the best 💜
I was lucky enough to have a bit of a white Christmas.
I am excited to make positive changes in my life, and look forward to making progress with my education. Most of all, my goal is to stay focused. I've noticed I have been all over the place, literally and hypothetically. Kinda difficult to get anything done when I'm not in one place long enough. I think I'm going to move to Bellingham, WA with my grandmother. I want to spend as much time with her as possible while she is around. I was lucky enough to spend my New Years in the Pacific North West along the gorgeous coast. The perfect place for solitude and meditation. I am so grateful! Oh, and I was totally kicking ass at black jack all throughout New Years, but lost it all in the end. Should've stopped when I was up $700, another lesson learned, lol.
