Saturday I took part (after being part of the months long planning process) in the Take Back The Night rally in my area for survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault. I've been working in the field of those issues for a while now, and to finally get to see the event come together was outstanding. Unfortunately- the weather worked against us, it was cold and raining, but still despite that we had an amazing turnout and some survivors shared their stories before we took to the streets in the downtown area and marched in solidarity followed by a candlelight vigil for those who have lost their lives as a result of assault and abuse in our area. It was quite powerful.
After that on sunday my lady and I lounged for a bit, did some shopping for our Halloween costumes (she's going to be the Joker, I'm going to be Harley Quinn) and then went to see Warpaint in concert- they were absolutely amazing! Sadly today I woke up under the weather, as the weekend's abuses finally caught up with me, so I've been working from my bed today. Still trying to fundraise for my internship site, which is trying to say the least, apparently people just don't care about charities that don't require you dumping ice water on yourself... *sigh* ...and I'm about halfway through the semester and finally getting my associates- one step closer to being professional level in the field of Human Services. So, I'm keeping busy to say the least.
