Tell me again why we need access to guns that can fire more than 100 rounds in rapid succession?
Tell me why the average civilian needs to be able to get semi-automatic rifles?
Tell me why we're the only nation in the world that has suffered more than 50 school/mass shootings in roughly 20 years and the next nation down the list has suffered 4, and yet our answer to the problem isn't less guns, or stricter control of guns- it's more guns?
Tell me why I keep hearing "arm the teachers" when we aren't even willing to pay teachers enough to just do the job of teaching?
Tell me why the death of children over and over again is worth less than your stupid hobby?
I am not trying to take away anyone's right to hunt, or possess a small pistol with limited firing capability- I know we'd never allow it in this country because we're fucking gun crazy. But there is NO arguement for anyone to possess assault weapons. None. None at all.
Why is a gun easier to get than health care?
Why is clinging to the second ammendment out of fear that the government is suddenly going to get it's shit together and try to make us all whimpering slaves less stigmatic than getting proper care for mental health ailments when needed?
Why do we keep letting this happen, and then bow out of an arguement when people tell us that it's disrespectful to the memory of those who died when we try to discuss what it is that's wrong with us as a nation that allows this to keep happening?
And we are not the only nation in the world to suffer a madman's attacks at a school today.
22 injured from a knife attack in Japan. Injured. Because all the attacker could get his hands on was a knife.
And then Mike Huckabee wants to say that taking "God" out of school was responcible for these school attacks. Tell that to every other 1st world nation, because we're the only ones where 50% of the population believes in angels, we're the ones who denounce Evolution and Climate Change because it's not Biblically correct, we're the nation willfully ignorant enough to have a "Creationism Museum" Where man and dinosaur walk hand in hand and still- despite our adorable clinging to outdated modes of thinking- we're the ones offing ourselves in this way over and over.
And there are more violent nations out there. But they are in the midst of political and social unrest. Nation wide idealogical conflicts. This is just random violence driven by American Exceptionalism ignorance gun-nuttery and blood-lust.
We're a nation of fucking assholes, and until we decide to collectively do something about it- this scene is going to keep replaying year after year.
I'm not even surprised by these shootings anymore.
I'm not even saddened in the way I should be.
I'm mad. I'm mad because we should be better than this and yet we choose not to be.
Because believe me boys and girls- this is a choice.
God Bless 'Murika.
