Things are afoot! I got a bid on the house and I've gotten stuff put away. My new computer is almost fully-armed and operational. Right now I'm downloading a John Coltrane and a North Mississippi All-Stars bootlegs. Once they're done I can burn everything of mine on my roommate's PC and xfer it over to mine. That's gonna take forever as I have lots of bootlegs. I came home to find that shows by The Bears, Art Blakey, Peter Gabriel, Genesis, and Yes had finished downloading. And one more file for the Rage Against the Machine gig.
Last night I spent 2+ hours on the phone with a guy from Milwaukee trying to help him with his PC. More today. Tonight I'm off to Janesville to have a Thirsty Thursday. Much bourbon will be consumed, I can tell you. I received a series of welcome home presents today. Several CDs and a guide to bourbon.
The father of one of my roommates had heart surgery earlier this week and I went to visit him yesterday. He's doing well but I was worried. My father died of heart disease and then 3 weeks later a close friend's dad is having problems with his ticker. Ugh! And I wandered around Madison for a while yesterday. Checked out the construction on East Wash and all of the buildings going up. On top of it all, the Madison Symphony Orchestra will be kicking off this season in the new Overture Center with a bit of the old Ludwig van!
Alle bruder something-something
Just gets me in the mood for a little of the old in/out-in-out.

Funny you should try to quote the above and I actually know the line. The only one I remember from performing the 9th a number of years ago. As I recall, only one or two movements actually have singing. Made for a long and boring performance for the choir.
I didn't make the Sleepy Jackson. I should've gone. I was too lazy last night after a long day at the office. Had to decompress some way that didn't involve crowds, booze and loud music.
I'm stoked about the symphony season too. Milw. symphony is doing some great stuff, most notably a little Bartok. And they've got a 2 for 1 deal going on!
My sympathy re your father and friend's heart troubles. My dad's had two open heart's. A triple bypass and aortic valve replacement. I worry about him all the time . . . .
