Ugh. Having a rough week.Thanksgiving went well, but Issy (one of my kitties) was kind of mopie. So, I took her to the vet. Turns out she had a UTI. No big deal, antibiotics for a few weeks. But, she still seemed mopie after a few days on the meds even though she should have started feeling better.
I come home last night after going to a work event (Saving Hubble viewing at the Navy Heritage Memorial), and I decide to go find Issy and say goodnight. I find her, and she is having severely labored breathing.
I took her to the emergency vet. They tapped off a whole soda can full of fluid from around her lungs (she's only 9.5 pounds). Geesh!!
The options are: Congestive Heart Failure, Cancer, or a Viral Infection. The viral infection is terminal, congestive heart failure would mean she has maybe a year with meds, and cancer can be anything in between
Well, she's off the oxygen and the fluid didn't show viral infection or obvious cancer. Cardiologist says no heart disease, but they did find a mass in her lung. So, it looks like cancer will be the culprit. Doc says that pathology will be back tomorrow. Then, we can decide what tests need to be run and what the options will be: surgery, chemotherapy, nothing.
I really hope that this is something that is treatable. Fingers crossed. I've already lost two cats this year, I don't know that I can take a third

I have a call back into the vet, but I fear that come this weekend poor Issy will no longer be with us
But, she was a terrific pet, and gave plenty of love. She used to wait for me at the front door. As soon as I'd get home from work she would come over and demand to be picked up. If I had my hands full and told her to wait, she would follow me around and meow until I finally picked her up. And she loved to be held like a baby and have her tummy rubbed.
