So this morning I wake up to read this lovely article.... which immediately threwme into a bit if a tirade.
Deaf Boy asked to change his Sign name.
Why, aside from the normal humanistic reasons, did this upset me? Because I have a deaf child in my home. He is a sweet boy who is fortunate enough to have technology and implants that helps him hear without having to sign all the time. That being said, I would probably loose all sense of decorum and civility and smash someone if they demanded he change the way he sign anything.
OK...So back to the article and the school officials that made this call initially. Everyone can rest easy at night that reason and sensibility slipped into the under-developed minds of this schools administration. But, one has to ask how these F'ING morons ever got to be the administrators of a student. Seriously?!?!?! Your going to ask a preschooler to change his sign name because it violates the 'weapons in school' policy? This is why I say, Liberal or Conservative, Christians or Atheist, Republican or Democrat... it doesn't matter which ideology you are speaking off, this world is inevitably going to eat itself on a brisk combination of stupidity and over zealous self-righteousness.
On a lighter note, if you have never heard this guy..... you can change that now. This is a great song and he is an amazing Poet.
