Here's a general update for all you out there. At the end of last semester, I was voted to take over as President of my university's student organization Emerging Green Builders. As I had only just joined the group that semester and was just a lowly webmaster ( http://www.stuorg.iastate.edu/egb ) I was rather nervous to take the position, but rather full of ideas. Well, we had our first meeting tonight, and honestly, it kicked ass. We had about 7 people at our last meeting of the semester in December, and this meeting we over filled the room I booked with about 30 people! I brought in an industry representative who provided pizza and soda (free food, an EGB first) for the group to talk about LEED construction. The presentation was a little bland, but really good for the group as I'm also setting up a LEED study group for interested members to come together and study the material for the LEED AP (accredited professional) exam. There seemed to be a lot of interest in the study group, so I'm sure that'll be a big success in itself, also! I'm so pumped!
In preparation for my meeting, I felt I ought to take the initiative and get a freaking haircut. For those of you that don't know, I grew out my hair for a very long time and then finally cut it a few months ago. Well it grew out quite a lot again and I cut it tonight. I was going for a faux hawk look which turned out great - at least I think it turned out great. A hairstyle on my head? Yeah, that's a first! Haha.
Finally, my best buddy Mark is either out of Iraq or on his way out in the very near future! He was set to leave this last Sunday, but I haven't heard from him, so I can't confirm. He's been there for over a year now. He should get out and go to Kuwait for a few days and then to North Carolina for a few weeks and then he'll be back here. I'm so pumped to see him! He's my best friend next to my girlfriend. And honestly, he's really one of just three true friends that I have a this point (him, my girlfriend and a friend still in Kansas), so I'm unbelievably excited to have him back in my day-to-day life. This semester will get much better once he's here!
Here are some various pictures of my life! Most are pretty old, but it's been a long time since I've posted a real blog!
