Two edits later and I might have something interesting to say! How bout the story of the origin of my screen name skalari. Ska. The driving force of my day. I'm constantly listening to ska in my iPod which is in my ears non-stop. So, one starts to notice a pattern when exposed to a topic long enough, and I've noticed that loads of ska bands have ska in their name. Ska-P, Skalariak, The Skatalites, or sing about the genre in their songs Ska Voovie Boobie Baby and such. So, I like ska. How do I show the world that I like ska? Make a ska name, baby!
My first name here was eSKApe, I believe. It's the pronunciation of one of my absolute favorite bands ever SKA-P from Spain. And, while their name is a play on the word escape (pronounced eSKApe) which, surprise surprise, means escape like in English. So I figured no one was pronouncing my name properly, so it had to go.
So I looked to another Spanish favorite, Skalariak. A ska band from el pas vasco in the north of Spain. They sing a mix of cataln and vasco, the latter of which I understand one word euskal (or something like that) for freedom. Interestingly and conveniently enough, the lead singer's apellido (surname) is Skalari. Tack on an -ak and you've got a ska band name. Rip the letters back off, and you have my SG screen name. That's that children.
