So the clinic job has been fabulous... I got to deliver pug puppies yesterday via c-section. Dr. Petersen did an emergency spay immediately after because the mother's bladder had fused to the wall of her uterus after a previous c-section and one horn of her uterus ruptured during the last day of her pregnancy. She couldn't have anymore litters.. but OH MY GOSH were those babies cute.. I got to clear their airways and sit with them wrapped up in my lap while momma doggy woke up from the anesthesia. We had 4 girls and 2 boys... so freaking cute. They're due back sometime this week for a checkup-the last litter had some breathing issues.
Sad day too, we had to put a kitty down after a day of attempting to keep his rapidly failing kidneys from deteriorating further. Hate that. I cried on my way home.
Today we had a neuter and a bunch of routine stuff, like teeth cleaning. There was one kitty with a broken canine tooth with an exposed root... it was gross-we had to extract both top canines. Kind of a boring day other than that... The kitty neuter was nasty. I felt terrible for him-they did a twilight sedation-so he was awake enough to kick... *Gag* I'm not doing that. I'll be knocking kitties out. They don't kick unless it hurts. It hurt. Ew.
Also, I am having issues with the way the vets perform standard procedures.. mostly because they don't give pain meds for spay/neuters... which I think is disgusting. I am giving pain meds. I think it's mean. Spays especially-I mean.. the dog just had their organs CUT OUT.. IM THINKING THAT'S PAINFUL!? They say "animals usually do pretty well without the pain meds" .. and I'm going.. "well ya... not like they can say 'ouch.. i feel terrible' and if they cry, its apparently an anesthesia issue, not a pain issue." ??! I dunno.. I just don't agree with it. Everyone in the animal business..cowboys, vets, vet techs...etc.. tells me I'm too gentle. I don't think you can be too gentle. I think that's why animals are attracted to me. Animals show eachother gentle contact and soothing touch too... Whatever, I guess I'm just a freak of nature...

That sounds horrfic for the animal I remember putting a cathader into a 6'4 350lb man and watchin him cry, i couldnt imgaine removing that body part, animal or not without any type of sedatives, ouch. Glad to hear things are going good out there!
