So, today I wasn't paying attention and accidentally permanently deleted a 25GB folder off my computer instead of the 46MB file that was in it.
Now, while I spent all day getting really frustrated looking for a program to recover my folder without me having to pay $40-$80 (I want my files back, but they're not worth that kind of money), I finally found one and figured I'd save anyone who reads this the trouble of having to look for one.
It's called Pandora Recovery and it's 100% Free and 100% fully functional forever. They do ask for a donation after you've used the program, but that's up to you.
As long as you don't install any programs (including Pandora), create any folders, or move any files to the drive you're trying to recover, it's painfully easy.
This also means you can't recover files TO the same drive you're recovering them FROM. There's a good chance you'll overwrite some of the files you're trying to save which will make them un-recoverable.
If you don't have a second hard drive, you can buy (for $19.95 or less) a 1GB thumb drive with a no-install version of Pandora on it. So you don't have to risk overwriting files by installing Pandora, and it gives you a little space to recover some files to.
And no, I don't work for this company, nor am I getting some kind of cut for saying how wonderful they are, but this program saved my ass today. I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone, download or buy the thumb drive NOW. Don't wait until you've accidentally deleted some important files because the longer it takes to start recovering the files, the less your chances of recovering them successfully will be.
