While I'm not a traditional woman, I do hold my cultural heritages near and dear to my heart. I'm Scottish, Irish, and Italian, with a little Norse, and of course being from the U.S., a smidge of Native American. I've celebrated the Irish and Scottish throughout my life, but only found out in recent years that I'm Italian. I always knew there was SOMETHING spicy about me, as people always commented on my big brown eyes, and would ask me if I am hispanic or some kind of mixture.
Well, as it turned out, it was the Italian, and Italian women are notorious for being amazing cooks. While I generally disregard gender roles, it really makes me want to learn. Until recently, I did NOT cook...ever. Now I've taken a sudden interest in Italian and traditional southern dishes that my grandmother makes. I can make a whopping two things, but they are impeccable.
1) Amazing spaghetti
2) Homemade chicken & dumplings
It's a start right?
