Why does this dumb shit always happen to me? I got my payroll and was shorted around 16 hours. Fucking dammit. I had PLANS!! Now I've gotta spend my breaks at my old department sorting the shit out tomorrow. I went by my old job at the movie theatre to get my final pay check. That was supposed to be mad money, but it looks like I'll be paying expenses with it now. Jeez.
I had a nice memorial day weekend. Sorta. The housemates and I had a bit of a shindig last night. A few people stopped by for wine, cheese, chatting and music. So, actually, I'd spent most of Sunday and Monday cleaning and preparing for the little gathering. I've always been a fairly private person, so it was interesting inviting other people into my space.
I really want to go see that Charles Bukowski movie that's playing this week. He used to be one of my favorites. Play the Piano Drunk Like a Percussion Instrument Until the Fingers Begin to Bleed a Bit is his first book I read when I was 13, and it's still my all-time fav. My friend Christy and I would memorize alternate lines of the poems and recite them aloud to each other in class - much to the dismay of our Lit. Arts instructor.
Tomorrow I have to go take a placement test a city college. I'm excited. I haven't been to school in a few years.. my brain is getting lazy. I wonder if a critical thinking course is being offered this semester. I still have my old Beyond Feelings textbook from the last time I took that class.
Oh! Yesterday I was walking down the street and there was this couple skinning a snake out front of there house. I'd never seen anything like that before. I tried to ask them why they were doing it but they didn't speak English and just kept saying, "Hi!". It was really an odd thing to see and it smelled bad, too.
Anyhoo, I'm off to go drink some wine!

i didn't even know about that movie. i'll have to try and catch it. i have this three hour documentary about him called the bukowski tapes. it's incredible. it's made up of conversations with him from over the years. but this one sounds like it's interviews with people who knew him.
i'm glad you mentioned it in your journal. i'm definitely going to see it. thanks!
I love History and Psychology. I wish I could afford to go back to school for ether
Good for you, forcing yourself to be social!
