So the Gogol Bordello show kicked major ass!! Eugene Hutz is hotter than Georgia asphalt! I want to make beautiful Ukranian babies with him....
Here's a cool recent radio interview with him!
Anyway, it was a great show, in spite of Berbati's sucky ventilation system. Hopefully they can play a slightly larger venue next time. The only music of theirs I've heard are the free tracks I downloaded from their website. Now I have to get ALL their stuff, including the new one coming out next month! And, I'm happy to say, the opening act did NOT suck! MiruMir is a Russian-American band based right here in Portland. They were extremely cool! The entire evening was a success. Michellene and I noshed on hummus and spanikopita, drank tequila and lime juice, and yakked about this, that and the other. We met a nice gal named Shannon who was seeing the band one more time before moving to Hawaii. After the show we were vastly entertained on the street by a fellow who basically "sang for his supper" and invoked Kerouac, Ginsberg, Kesey, Gloria Steinem and "the proletariats" while asking us for spare change. He even kissed our hands - how could we not help him out?? I slept way, way in this morning, lemme tell you... And I think I've just about got my hearing back. Oy.
And now we return to our normal lives, already in progress. I'll get back to Tarot tomorrow, I promise.
