So Marvin does indeed have hyperthyroid. We're giving him Tapazole pills for the next 3-4 weeks, then he goes in for another test, then we start thinking about irradiated iodine treatment. When he gets that done, he's considered "radioactive waste" and a biohazard, so he has to be quarantined in a lab during treatment for 5-7 days. He seems to be feeling a lot better; he's hanging out with us again, begging for our food, sleeping on the bed with us. His meow is still kinda hoarse and scratchy, though. He hates taking the pills, of course, but after a few traumatic episodes of prying his jaws open and shoving the half-pill down his throat, we figured out how to stick the pill into a Friskies Treat and give it to him that way. He's gonna be OK, but this whole episode has just completely discombobulated our lives. Sigh.
