Well the start of the new year has been a stressful one so far for me! A few personal troubles added to the following are proving to be a right royal headache!!
Last August I paid all of my savings to have my shower room in my house converted to a bathroom and have all my kitchen flooring replaced, and underfloor heating put through the kitchen and bathroom (its a downstairs bathroom off the kitchen). After checking out a few builders and getting quotes I went with the one who I've known to say hi to for years and who offered to give me his old bath and toilet for free- I'm massive on recycling so this appealed to me. Well it turns out he was quite the cowboy builder, the toilet and sink wobble, the tiling is all over the place with the worst grouting ever seen (I've had builders since come in and say its the worst they've seen in 16 year careers), the bathroom wasn't plastered despite me paying for it to be, ugly pipes left on display, the light fitted in the wrong place and the shower rail constantly falls down and hits me on the head. As it was fitted in summer I didn't try out the underfloor heating until October, I thought I was being stupid not getting it to work and left it until November to call the builder back to look at it. Turns out a wire had completely burned out so it was never going to work. After much waiting and frustration yesterday the cowboy came back and ripped up all of my flooring, filled the house with dust, and "fixed" the underfloor heating. He totally forgot to put the bathroom door back on and stupidly I was so busy looking at the floor I didn't notice until he'd gone. The heating was working in the kitchen but still cold in the bathroom. Then last night I was sat in my lounge when all the lights went out, something had fused and I can only presume it was the heating as it no longer seems to be working at all. Feeling totally stressed and fed up. Trading standards have been pretty much useless, saying if I want my money back I'd have to take him to county court, but I've spent all my money on the bathroom so can't afford to raise a whatsit (not sure of the technical terms!) and also am so busy with work and studying that I'm not sure I have the time.
So anyway, I'm trying to start raising money towards getting everything fixed up, and replace my savings as having an empty pot always scares me. I'm getting some bits listed onto my ebay and have just put up an awesome ring from The Great Frog that I only brought for £125 a few months ago and a vintage Vivienne Westwood bag. I'll be listing more as soon as I get chance, may even put some SG merch up there, so please check it out and throw a bid in on anything you like!
