War & Peace
Breaking down barriers between Arabs and Jews is vital to the survival of our world, as we know it. Anyone who does not understand this, is sadly out of touch. We've had, in fact 3 world wars, last century. The Korean War, a.k.a. "The Forgotten War," had 27 countries involved, by the time it was all over. And, since this new millenium has begun, we've vascillated on the edge of a fourth world war. This is unacceptable, to say the least. This is beyond politics. This is about survival. Our politicians are impotent. Just look at the current administration, primarily Republicans, whose main concern has been, "Gun, God, and Gays." Morality has replaced virtue and nobody's problems are being solved. How long will we continue to let the ideological territorialism occupy our focus and energy? What the hell does the far right gain by winning a "moral," battle over whether or not gay marriage should be legal? Or whether gun control, though far from preventing criminals from acquiring guns, certianly inhibits youth that lack parental guidance, from acquiring them? America has a problem admitting our faults and an even bigger problem living up to our "moral imperatives." Consequently, without the monstrousity of our high tech juggernaut, our country would simply be ignored by the rest of the world. There is a difference between respect and obedience. We are an empire, people and we're heading down the same path that all other empires, throughout history, have followed, the one that leads to eventually decay. America has always been a global trend setter, defying the norms and defining our own destiny. Yet today, we're guided by a minority of Fundamentalist Christian Freaks who, more and more each day, resemble the so called "terrorist threat," we're fighting around the world, and in no way reflect the majority of Americans. There is no "Moral Majority." There is, however, a serious threat to our society and IMHO, it's the majority in power. "The power of government never exceeds the toleration of the people," (Thomas Jefferson? I think)
