Not much new to report. I holed up in the beach house in the OC for the past few days after returning from San Fransisco. It has cable TV (and I watched the shit outta some SciFi), but no internet.
I always manage to find myself in internet-free zones which really goes against the ways of the world. I haven't had my own internet in years. I usually end up at cafes or piggybacking off someone's unsecure wifi. Things don't look like they will change once I get to Texas either.
I leave for Texas on Friday and from there, back to Iraq. I don't want to go, but I'm kinda excited to see what kind of changes have been made. The whole Iraq thing pisses me off especially now that all sorts of books are being published about all the mistakes that were made. I'm reading Fiasco and realizing I was party to some of the mistakes that were made.
But like I tell the junior soldiers, we are set up for failure. Or at least we were... I can't imagine too much has changed in the soldier mindset regarding Iraq. We'll see.
Went to the SGOC brunch today. I think that's a much better open meet setup. It was easier to socialize and dispel (or in my case, reinforce) any preexisting creep/stalker status. Ha!
