Where have all the decent people gone?
This week I've had a few instances happen to me that made me stop and wonder that. I had a man with a speech impediment thank me for my kindness when all I did was talk to him like I would anyone else. Is it that rare of an occassion that someone treats him normally that he has to thank me because I did?
In the grocery store I was taking my stuff out of my cart for the cashier when the lady directly behind me (who was in a wheelchair) dropped a carton of milk. Two or three others saw this happen and kept walking by and/or ignored it. So I stopped what I was doing and picked it up for her. She actually looked shocked that I did that for her, when to me it wasn't a big deal.
To top it off, my truck started acting funny this week so I had to stop on two seperate occassions to check my oil. Rather than stop and ask if I needed help (which I didn't) I had people "woot" at me, stop and stare and drive by a couple of times. What kind of shit is that? Thank God I didn't really need someone's help.

You know there are a lot of shitty people out there...I guess I'm not one to talk, but, you are the better person for doing what you did. Sometimes, it does shock people when a genuine act of kindness comes from a complete stranger. And it shouldn't strike you as funny, because, that is who you are and you're the better for it. I don't think I'm that good of a person lately, but, that's my own opinion.
