The story
Alright I've been asked to write about my "little" lung problem I have. School's in session bitches!
The problems started "hardcore" in 99. I was still in school. I was at home writing yet another paper when i burped and all of a sudden felt this sharp pain in my chest and back. I blew it off took a tums and went about my night. I started feeling like shit the next day at school, really lightheaded and the pain was 100x worse and it was really hard to take a breath - even a shallow breath was HELL.
Needless to say I went straight to ER after school, still thinking I'd pulled a muscle or I had as from hell somehow lol.
5 flippin hours later and a dozen xrays later 3 drs came rushing in my room saying I needed to call next of kin and they had to put a emergency chest tube in. My right lung was completly collapsed and they didnt know how I'd made it thru school all day without passing out.
I'm a tough biatch and that proves it lol.
Heres what they did
Keep in mind I was completly awake when I got this chest tube and it hurt like hell. Theres nuthin like hearing your own ribs being spread.
I stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks, right before xmas.....because I'd went so long without goin to the dr my other organs had begun to move up toward the empty cavity where my lung shoulda been. Not only that but my heart had dropped a bit because of it.
THIS TIME i got no surgery and was sent home. And thought that it was over!
Yeah right.
Almost exactly a year later the same thing happened again, to the same lung. Same process, chest tube.....cept this time it was worse. Apparently part of your lung dies each time it collapses, and the air pockets under my lung were constantly 'poppin' causing pain and excess air in my chest cavity.
So
I had surgery the 2nd day I was in the hospital, during which they fused my lung to my chest wall, and cut out the 'bad' part of my lung (the dead parts that didn't get enough blood when it was collapsed)
All better right?
I wake up to horrible pain ALL over my chest and back and my fabulous dr saying "we lost ya for a second there"
Real professional huh who trains these people?
It was like coming back from the dead literally, I couldn't even go to the bathroom for 3 weeks (besides bedpan) and the first time I got outta bed was like takin my first steps again.
HELL
I was told never to smoke (and hadn't smoked at all back then) and to avoid getting a cold if at all possible.....the coughing and getting sick( excess mucus just makes my lungs even more heavy and achy in the winter)
Most winters I just try to stay inside at all costs and NOT get sick. I drink alot of hot tea and FLAVORED coffees and take alot of pain pills (which are prescribed to me)
Recently (last winter) I had another episode where I had extra air around my heart and pericardium. None of the dr's know why. They've also found I have a valve (dunno which one lol) that doesn't completly open to let my heart pump blood back OUT. When that happens I get excess blood on the right side of my chest and its like somebody is knocking the wind outta ya.
I have no real medication for that - no insurance.
I've been diagnosed with a form of emphysema and doing tests for COPD. (swallowing nasty shit and a thousand xrays and one lung biopsy)
Winter is not my best time of year. It's pretty scary for me actually - because I don't want to go back into the hospital or get sick AGAIN.
Seein that theres nothing I can do about it tho I try to make the best of things and be there for the few I consider friends, and just be krazy...RE-RE me!!!!
Usually around this time of year I find out who my real friends are too.....which has already happened.
I don't want pity or anything. It's just an explanation if I do disappear for a bit in the next few months. I WILL BE BACK THOUGH.
Like I could ever leave you fuckers
RIght now just goin thru a 'blah' time......but seein that I have ADD that'll be over in a few days.
ON a brighter note.......I'm buying shoes (with built in skates) to go Xmas shopping in.
I'll roller derby over those slow ass mo fo's who doop dee dooo along the aisle like they own the place.........watch tha local news......heehehe

Toss a couple elbows for me when you're shopping!
I did almost all of my shopping online to avoid the masses of stupidity.
