It's been a crazy ride these past 10 weeks (is that all?). I still can't believe that I've met someone who can understand and appreciate me as much as I understand and appreciate them, and to such depth. I know without a doubt that Nicky is the love of my life.
Last night was probably the first real challenge we've faced in our relationship. What was planned to be a fun night at the Mezzanine turned into a very emotional resurfacing of memories and more importantly, self doubt on both of our parts. One thing I've known since the day I met her is that Nicky has a very strong personality, but like many things when the outer bravado begins to question the strength of the inner ego, often this strength can become self defeating, and even harmful.
So the romance is still young, and there's been a hurdle. But I'm not dissuaded, in truth this is just a part of merging your life with another human being. All persian rugs have at least one flaw, why should we be any different? Through our struggles, we become stronger, and so it shall be for the life that we are building together.
