It takes a lot of work, depending on the person.  Being conscious of emotions, and wishing the happiness of the others. I see polyamory as an evolutionary idea, so it is like growth.  Personally, I feel that our individual happiness should not be based on others.  We should be able to be happy and whole in ourselves.  This helps too.
