Two armed robbers handcuffed a security guard to a filing cabinet during a heist at an Advance America store Saturday evening, the first of three separate armed robberies during the night.
The security guard and a store employee were locking up the cash advance store at 7506 S. Anthony Blvd. about 6:30 p.m. Saturday when two men approached pointing black semiautomatic handguns at them. The men told them not to move, a Fort Wayne police report said.
One robber ordered the store employee to unlock the business and open the business safe. The other robber handcuffed the security guard to the cabinet door handle and tried several times to take the guards gun from its holster, the report said.
He eventually unholstered the .45-caliber gun and took it with him. The robbers took the stores surveillance tape and ripped phone cords from the walls before fleeing on foot, the report said.
Both men were wearing hooded sweatshirts, ski masks and latex gloves, the report said.
I don't know if I'd call it a "heist" though. They only got about $350.
Edit: We're in the other paper too. Damn.
