I think of myself as a modern American. I know how to use public transit, I don't set my toaster on fire (usually), and I spend way too much of my time online. But today, I was faced with a situation that overwhelmed me far more than it should have.
After reading a thread I was seized with a sudden urge to go to the grocery store. I got there, headed to the cereal aisle, and went into sensory overload. I felt like a Russian immigrant. I could not comprehend so many colors and flavors, the cartoon characters and the bad prizes.
It literally took me almost 10 minutes to pick out a box of cereal. Now, I'm not normally a cereal buyer, but I feel a little behind the times. But I am better than that- it can't intimidate me. Next time I'll buy TWO boxes. Ha.
