Sometimes I look around and feel that I am in a prison, stuck in this world of economics and work. It's mad, completely mad. No country where on can escape it, no career that exists without it -- no place for a man to just be a man.

Something has been happening over the last few weeks, aside from failure (being sacked, that's never happened...

The job sounds low maintenance. Good place to gather the thoughts, maybe?

I see your deep in Marky K. Ever listen to the 'Shock Me' ep? It's pretty aces.

What's Christmas like there?
gigondas:
That song was aces. Indeed.

So here I am, Cambridge.

I'd post some photos, but I've been too busy to bother taking them.

I'm on my third day of my second week of double shifts. I don't get another day off untill next thursday. I'm being trained on every section of the restauant so that I canbe that guy who knows it all. Suffice it to say that if I...

Keep at it, you'll get there. smile

At the moment, I get up and go to work in the dark and I go home in the dark. It is very strange.

I've decided, for now, that I'm going to stay in Inverness a wee bit longer. A mix of things not really turning out how I'd hoped financially, not being ready to move and, thirdly, I've met some truly good people up here. I don't want to leave them behind when I'm just getting to know them. x
gigondas:
Head down, working head, eh? Alternately satisfying and fucking exhausting? I hope this is a place you can settle down for a bit. If not, I'm sure you'll stumble along brilliantly.

The Sun Kil Moon does kinda scare me though. tongue

Thoughts on prop 8,

What he said...

In the 60's it was like this:

Now we have the pieces, we can make the machine work and work well...

I feel like we are coming in all ways to another shatterpoint of history, a series of critical moments where we either go this way or that. It may seem strange to say this but it seems...

You feelin' any better? Watch that cough.

Working in a restaurant does make sobriety difficult.

What's the end game here? She gonna move closer? Y'all going to London? Is it just day-to-day? 'Weekends' together?

Sounds like an intense living situation. Take care of yourself, man. I've been wondering how you're doing. Don't go to far into the cave.

Hey, my state actually went blue this election. Ain't that something. It's been a long time.
It's been a long eight years.

So the job hunt is over, I will be woking here.

Cambridge is a long way from here, I'm going to have to pay two rents and for train tickets home on my day off. All of this would be fine for me if it didn't mean that I have to live away from the one I love for 6 months. It's not all...

Wow... look for jobs outside of Birmingham and bam! (proves that this place is still a culinary wasteland.)

I've been looking at live in jobs around London and in the country (also in Cambridge), posted my CV on Cater.com and my phone hasn't stopped ringing. I have one job offer already, but it's a hotel that's rebuilding it's restaurant. I have a trial at a...

I left my job last week.

Normally when I leave a shit job I feel light, free of a burden that I know I did't really need anyways. This time it's different, I can't help but feel that I might have made a mistake. Worry and guilt plauge my mind, as I try to figure out what the difference is. I think I know what...

That's a good idea with the putting money aside thing. Though, my money situation got worse this week because I somehow managed to mysteriously lose 30 out of my purse, which I'm really irked about.

Maybe, the flip side of being an individual is that you're almost by definition a loner? I don't know. I'm very glad and thankful for the few people in my life I do have that great bond of friendship with though. smile

How are you today?

Apparently I've been in unintentional hiding.

I think I'm going to find a new job. I don't want to be meh about work, I waned to be excited, about the ingredients, about the food, and I'm willing to take some risks to achieve it.

Other than that, not much to report, my life outside of work has been fairly domestic lately, buying things for the...

Acme Tools and Mount Rushmore? That makes no damn sense, and yet, it's brilliant.

I'm going to see Mark Kozelek in a couple of weeks. It's been, shit, since Old Ramon, the RHP days. Stoked. He's got a new record coming out soon.

I imagine that the difference is refreshing and occasionally frustrating, kinda changes the nature of conversation, eh.

1300 !!!!!

It feels so good to be paid, to have my own money for the first time in a year. Anyone who says money doesn't matter has never been without it, or has no pride either way they can go fuck themselves.

Speaking of fuck. The restaurant I'm working at is a high volume 300 covers a night kinda place, the trouble is fuckall...

Oh the restuarant life. I actually kinda miss my restaurant job. Teaching is a whole other challenge all on its own. It takes another kind of breed, man. Hope you and the lady are doing great! kiss

I get paid next week, thank god!

I drank a lot of ate yesterday and ate at a bad French restaurant, not a bad way to spend a day off...

Cheers! I'll probably update about it soon, but things are going well so far - though, I'm just training for the first week.

Found out today that I'm going to be on the Corus desk doing IT support for them. Also, my trainer recommended me to apply for tier 2 as soon as I get on my desk, which I'm guessing is a good thing. I know it's more pay and probably a more interesting/challenging job. smile

How's work been for you this week? I hope the chef hasn't been giving you a hard time. x
kittyvalentine:
That's the spirit!

I'm ok, thanks. Bit more tired tonight and it's my legs more than anything, which I can't figure out at all. Nevermind, Friday tomorrow. Yay! x

Sorry for the whining.

The weather is shit, worse than yesterday even. Meh.

Oh. Just me looking a bit too far forward, chances are I won't be there long enough to be considered for it, anyway!

But I did get the job. smile

You are most kind, I hope you know that. smile

What's the song in that video, by the way?
