Hello. I'm sorry to bother you but I believe you work in IT and I'm considering a career change into IT. I was wondering if you had any advice/recommendations about which programming languages/certifications are in demand, employment prospects and where a relative novice could get training. I'm in my mid thirties, my degree is in Mechanical Engineering and my only programming was with FORTRAN. From what little I know, the chances of me being able to get a foot in the door somewhere aren't good but I would like to hear some opinions from people working in the industry before shutting the door.
