In case anyone is still interested, I was subpoenaed to be a witness at the preliminary hearing for the guy that burglarized our house. So I spent all day Tuesday sitting in court waiting for his trial to come up. For those who've never had the pleasure, this is how it seems to work: you have to show up at 8:30am and can be there for one hour or all day, depending on when the judge decides to call your trial -- they don't schedule times, just days. And it costs $16 to park, tho I got $7.50 back for showing my subpoena. woohoo. Anyhow, so I sat there all day and then, about an hour before the court closes, they bring the guy out! So that he can waive his right to the preliminary trial. That I just sat there all day waiting to participate in. Bastard!! The good news is, nobody in their right mind would waive the prelim unless they had no intention of actually going to trail, meaning he'll probably take a plea. And I won't have to waste another day in court. But, why the fuck didn't they just do that first if they knew he was going to waive?!!! Lame!!!
