I made someone's day today by giving them a job.

Worst thing is, it is not even a real job. It's part time data capturing. But I think the gratefulness comes from someone attaching value to what the person can do.

It makes me despair about the society we have created in this country.

That makes me smile, and even though it might not seem like it's much, I bet it's a whole lot to that person. If nothing else, it's something to put on his/her CV. smile

True, but his person is old enough to be one of my parents. This country doesn't have a safety net. It's like walking a tight rope above a chasm filled with lions.
