Today marks a major milestone in my life. After five years, six months, and seventeen days, my long-term girlfriend and I have called it quits. I'm not happy or sad about it, I'm just amused with the whole thing. We met in drum corps while we were still in high school, graduated, then went to college together - practically spending every moment outside of class together - and even now, we're still going to school together, albeit a different one than where we started. We both know that in the time we've been together we've both grown up and become completely different people than who we started out as, and that's led us to our individual pursuits and personalities. The real shame in it is that I couldn't accept that. But today is different. Sobering, but optimistic for both she and I.
