I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to give a definitive opinion on envy. Positive or negative, I don't know. I believe it's highly situational and can probably work as a motivator in some cases, for some people. My point is, I find myself envious of people who've managed to fully figure out what they want to make of themselves as far as a professional career is concerned. It doesn't have to be a specific job, it's most likely something bigger than that, like a field of expertise or a cause of some sort.
There's a huge difference in having an interest and having a cause. I've finally turned a corner and I find myself with a lot of energy, drive and time to go and educate and immerse myself in something. The problem being that I'm not sure what that something might be. I tell you, it can be quite frustrating.
I do have ideas about what it can be, so I suppose I will start looking into that in order to keep myself busy. The problem is that I can't boil it down to something more specific and manageable, but maybe a good first step is just to start with a wide net and see what sticks.
I'm also looking into picking up some knowledge from official centers of distribution just for the hell of it. Just snoop around and see if there's anything that interests me enough that I would be willing to put in some time on it. At this point I really do need to have a genuine interest in it in order to sit down and study in a proper way. Perhaps the way to go is not to overthink this. I'm always in danger of thinking about the future, which I believe is not an entirely positive thing.
