These are the cuts that I truly love from a bygone era of the Smashing Pumpkins. A few of the hits from the 90's era Pumpkins for you. All live.
First up, way back from 1993, the Pumpkins doing a cover of Thin Lizzy's "Dancing In The Moonlight" a true classic from TL and also the slower, acoustic version the Pumpkins put forth. It's masterful, powerful and sad all in one. It's truly a way back favorite of mine. Off the Rarities and B-Sides bootleg. This one is epic. Enjoy!
To keep that acoustic vibe for one more track but a little more energetic, I give you the acoustic version of "Cherub Rock" performed live for MTV Europe in 1993. Another stellar acoustic transformation by the Pumpkins. This was also on the Viewphoria DVD and Earphoria CD in the 90's too. Enjoy.
Up next, two in a row from my hometown and the Pumpkins' hometown, Chicago! Yes, I was at this show and all shows from the early 90's onwards in the Pumpkins long performance history. I've never missed them. From the Metro in 1993, up first, "Mayonaise" and this one elevates the "heavy" a bit more but we're not full on thrashing yet. So enjoy yet again.
Up next, "Geek USA" from that same show in the 90's here in Chicago at the Metro. Enjoy! One more after this from another place in time!
Last but not least, from the Pinkpop festival in the Netherlands, from 1994, I give you "Silverfuck" and it's another heavy doozie. Enjoy! All the songs except for the cover of Thin Lizzy have been from the modern classic album known as Siamese Dream. There's a reason it's known as one of the elite tier albums of the 90's overall. My love for the Smashing Pumpkins knows no limits. They were talented beyond measure. Anyways, enjoy! Thought I'd share some of this before I hit the road for a well deserved night off to party with friends. Much love to you all. See you when I see you.
